WEDDING MAKEUP

A wedding brings so many things to think about; wedding day makeup being just one of them.  The problem is that many brides do not think about this part of their big day until they are either having their wedding day makeup applied, or are applying that last touch of mascara in the limo on the way to the church!  Keep yourself from any stress by following some wedding day makeup tips and tricks.

Some brides choose to hire a makeup artist to apply their wedding day makeup.  This is a great idea because a professional will know how to apply makeup for pictures; something a non-professional may not be able to do.  Your wedding day is but one day out of your life, but it will be memorialized in pictures forever.  Having makeup that shines or produces a less than healthy hue in pictures will leave you feeling unsatisfied and downright sad.

Because you want to be sure about your wedding day makeup, have some fun before the wedding by playing with some different looks.  Have makeup applied by your makeup artist, or do it yourself if that is the route you are going to go, and then take pictures.  This will show you how your makeup will show up on film.

Once the big day arrives, there are ways to ensure that your wedding day makeup will withstand the long day.  The first thing is to make sure you are applying quality products.  Yay!  A chance to splurge on makeup!  Wedding day makeup requires certain things in order for you to look your absolute best all day long:

  • A good concealer is necessary to hide any blemishes and should be applied first.
  • Yellow toned foundation is necessary to offset pink tones that will come out in flash photographs.  Typical red areas are around the nose and mouth, so start applying there and work your way out.
  • Once concealer and foundation have been applied, set it with a sheer finish loose powder.  This keeps your skin looking flawless all day and keeps skin from looking shiny in pictures.
  • Using two shades of blush for all day glow is the best way to go.  A neutral shade on the apples of cheeks goes on first and then gets blended up into the hairline as well as downwards for softness.  Once that shade is on, apply a brighter shade over the neutral just on the apples of the cheeks.
  • For long lasting wedding day lips that will even make it through that all-important first kiss as husband and wife, do more than just line lips with a pencil; fill in the entire lip and then cover with lipstick.
  • Because tears can be a part of your wedding day, using water-resistant eyeliner is a must.  If the look you want calls for lining the eye with shadow, consider using a water-resistant liquid liner covered then by shadow applied with a damp eye liner brush.  Of course, this is crowned with water-resistant mascara.
  • Even when applied to perfection, a wedding day can cause issues with your wedding day makeup. For this reason, every bride should be equipped with her very own makeup touch-up kit.  This should include concealer, pressed powder, lip liner, lipstick or gloss, and tissues.  Keep these nearby and you’ll be ready for anything.
